Commencement Ceremony

Congratulations to our Fall Graduates!

The deans, faculty, and staff of the College of Business congratulate you

on your upcoming graduation from Colorado State University!

  

All College of Business graduating seniors will be individually recognized at our ceremony.  Students with special needs, such as hearing-impairment or wheel chair seating, should call Pam Johannsen at

970-491-1499 to make arrangements.

 

Check In and Lineup:  Please meet in the Intramural Gym (east end of the Moby Arena complex) no later than 11:30 A.M.  Allow adequate time for traffic delays, parking, walking to the gym, and changing into your regalia.  Complete the Career Services Survey and pick up your name card from the table inside the Intramural Gym before assembling with other graduates in your concentration.  The name card will be handed to the announcer as you cross the stage and your name is announced!  A program will be placed on every chair in Moby Arena.  Commencement faculty marshals, wearing a yellow stole, will provide instructions for the lineup. The ceremony will begin promptly at 12:30 P.M. and will last approximately 1 1/2 hours. 

 

Cap and Gown:  Cash is required!  No advance reservations are needed to rent your cap and gown.  However, you must pick up your regalia during the following times: 

 

Tuesday, Wednesday &Thursday, December 16 &17, 2009:  8:00 A.M.–5:00 P.M. –

228 Lory Student Center – Cash is required!

Saturday, December 19:  one hour prior to each ceremony:  Moby Intra-Mural Gym

Costs are:  Bachelor’s cap, gown, & tassel (you may keep the cap and tassel): $19.50

(Black gown, Gold gown for academic distinction, or Green gown for Univ. Honors Program)

Extra souvenir tassels (green, gold or degree colors) $7.00

 

Return your cap and gown to the Intramural Gym immediately after the ceremony.  You will be charged for late returns.  Any late returns should be sent directly to Unique Recognition at 333 East 4th Street, Suite 102, Loveland, CO 80537.

 

Our regalia reflect centuries of tradition in academe.  The College of Business tassel color for undergraduates is sapphire blue.  Tassels are worn on the left side.  Your mortarboard cap should be worn level, not on the back of your head.  In recognition of the tradition and dignity of this ceremony, please do not decorate your regalia in any way.  Honor society cords may be worn.

 

Guests:  Tickets are not needed for families and guests, and the number of invitees is not limited.  However, seating is on a first come, first served basis.   Special wheelchair seating is available; those with limited mobility should arrive early to obtain reserved seating on the first two rows of the concourse level.  Sign language interpreters will be present at the ceremony; those needing sign interpretation should sit on the south concourse, Section P.  Please call 970-491-1499 with any questions.  Ushers will be present to assist.

 

 

Parking:  Parking regulations will be enforced on the main campus and in the Moby Arena Lot until 4:00 P.M. on Friday, December 18.  Visitors may park in the Z-zoned lots on campus, but should avoid parking in the 20-minute loading zones and handicapped, metered and red zones.  Additional parking information can be obtained from the CSU Police Department – Parking Division at

Announcements:  A company representative will be present in the Lory Student Center Flea Market area (outside the University Bookstore) on October 13, 14, and 15 from 10:00 A.M. – 3:00 P.M. to take customized announcement orders.  Orders can be placed after February 26 at www.cbgrad.com or by calling 800.433.0296.  Customized orders will be shipped within seven days of being ordered.  Non-customized announcements can be purchased at the Lory Student Center Bookstore anytime.  If you are creating your own invitations and want to include information on your degree, you will receive the Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a concentration in _______.

 

Photographs:  A photo will be taken as you receive your diploma.  Grad Trak www.gradtrak.com will email your proofs following the ceremony if a permanent email address is included on your name card.  Should you need to contact Grad Trak, their phone number is:  1-800-628-4509.

 

Following the Ceremony:  Because another ceremony quickly follows ours, guests will not be allowed on the floor of Moby Arena following the ceremony.  We hope family and friends will join you outside Moby Arena following the ceremony.

 

Diploma Covers, if you are unable to attend commencement:  Your actual diploma will be mailed to the permanent address listed on RamWeb (not your billing address) approximately six weeks after commencement.  Please be sure that address is up to date. For those unable to attend commencement, diploma covers are available in 123 Rockwell or in the Provost’s Office.  Diploma covers can be mailed; the postage cost is $3 for U.S. mailings. 

 

Inclement Weather:  In the unlikely event of inclement weather, please call (970) 491-SNOW (7669) for updates on the university’s operating status and news of any closures or cancellations.

 

Decorum:  Please remember this is a very public event, reflecting upon you as an individual and upon Colorado State University.  Alcoholic beverages and inappropriate substances or objects are not allowed in Moby Arena; if brought into the building, they will be confiscated.  This ceremony is the capstone of the academic experience for you, other students, and your family and friends.  Your recognition of the rights of others to enjoy the ceremony free from disruptive or otherwise inappropriate behavior is appreciated.  You may be requested to open robes, purses, etc. for inspection as you enter in accord with commencement policies.
