The organizers of the
AMCIS 2007 conference are taking the following steps to ensure
and
encourage environmentally sound practices. The AMCIS
2007 conference
will encourage recycling and reuse through:
-
Plastic,
refillable water
bottles
-
A reusable conference attendee bag
-
Reusable
badge holders
-
Fewer pages
in the conference program
-
The use of
post-recycled paper in the program guide, boxes,
and materials used at the conference
The Keystone Conference Center
management is also environmentally conscious. The conference
center is equipped with a number of environment-friendly
programs and equipment:

-
The Keystone
Conference Center is powered by 100% Renewable Wind
Energy.
-
The Keystone
Conference Center has upgraded it's internal
lighting system making it 100,000 kWh per year more
efficient (equivalent to powering more than 100
homes for 1 year).
-
The Keystone
Conference Center has a recycling program
that prevents plastics, tin and aluminum cans,
glass, newspaper, office paper, and cardboard from
entering the landfill.
-
The Keystone
Conference Center has a composting program that
diverts over 12 tons of kitchen prep waste per year.
-
By recycling the
Keystone Conference Center diverted over 127 tons of
material in 2006, a diversion rate of nearly 50%.
-
The material
recycled and composted by the Keystone Conference
Center in 2006 is equivalent to: saving 18
households of energy for one year; preventing 106
trees from being cut-down and turned into paper
products; preventing 138 tons of air emissions from
being emitted into the atmosphere; taking 66 cars
off the road for one year!
