We
are pleased to invite all new MIS faculty to join us for MIS
Camp, to be held in conjunction with the Americas Conference on
Information Systems. The camp will meet prior to the main
conference activities on Thursday - August 9th 2007 in Keystone,
Colorado, USA.
MIS
Camp has a long history and is viewed as an important element in
our annual conference activities. Delegates attending the camp
will participate in a series of interactive sessions focused on
relevant issues in research, teaching, and service. Campers will
spend time in break-out groups of 3 – 5 delegates facilitated by
one senior faculty mentor. All activities are designed to be
both relevant to career development and fun.
Potential
campers include AIS members beginning their first, second or
third year in an academic position in the Fall of 2007. This
format has been very successful in the past, partly because it
allows new faculty to share their experiences at their new
institution with peers from other institutions. While all
qualifying junior faculty are welcome to attend if they have
previously attended MIS Camp, the most benefit will be enjoyed
by returning second year faculty.
MIS
Camp will be facilitated by a well known group of faculty
mentors, including:

Keynote
Speaker:
Our keynote speaker at this year’s
camp is Richard “Rick” Watson, the J. Rex Fuqua Distinguished
Chair for Internet Strategy at the University of Georgia's Terry
College of Business. Professor Watson is also the Director of
the Center for Information Systems Leadership and Interim Head
of the MIS Department.
Rick lays claim to being one of the
few people in Athens, GA with a genuine southern accent as he
was born in South Australia and spent much of his childhood in
Western Australia.
Professor Watson has published over
100 refereed articles in leading academic and practitioner
journals, written or edited more than 10 books, has served as a
senior editor for MIS Quarterly, and is a Past President
of the Association for Information Systems. His current research
interests are ecological sustainability, open source software,
and information systems leadership.
Rick will, most certainly, deliver a
stimulating and thought-provoking talk that will serve to set
the tone for the entire camp proceedings. You don’t want to miss
this.
Registration
All
campers must be registered for the conference. In order to keep
this experience an intimate one, registration will be limited to
40 campers. Since the camp meets the day before the regular
conference activities commence, campers should plan to arrive in
Keystone with enough time to begin bright and early Thursday
morning. Camp will meet from 8:00am until 4:00 pm on Thursday
August 9th. The most value from MIS Camp is achieved
when campers spend the entire day!
To
register for MIS Camp, you will have to register for the AMCIS
Conference. You will be able to indicate on the form that you
are attending MIS Camp.
In
addition, registered campers must send, an e-mail message to the
