The field of IS education faces a number of significant challenges, including dealing with declining enrollment, preparing students for the changes in the profession and updating curriculum to integrate new ideas and technologies. Therefore, it is critical that leading conference, such as AMCIS, include a strong information systems education track. As the official AIS special interest group on education, SIGED is uniquely positioned to organize an information systems education track.
This track is sponsored by the AIS SIGED:IAIM community. The SIGED Executive Board has charged the proposing co-chairs with the task of submitting SIGED’s track proposal. The majority of the attendees at AMCIS are educators. In order to improve the classroom experience, they are interested in sharing their ideas and learning new methodologies. In the rapidly changing Information Systems environment, those involved in curriculum development and pedagogy strive to remain up-to-date with the evolving field.
The Information Systems Education track provides an opportunity for interdisciplinary researchers and educators in information systems to exchange ideas, techniques, and applications through a combination of workshops, panels and paper presentations. The focus is on innovative and quality advances in IS and MIS instruction and curriculum. A broad array of submissions are welcome, ranging from papers aimed at improving the teaching of specific course to “big picture” papers intended to address broad topics. Submissions using Information Systems Technology to advance other disciplines are also welcome.
