Description:

As Information Technology and the Internet become more and more ubiquitous and pervasive in our daily lives, a more thorough understanding of issues and concerns over the Information Security and Privacy is becoming important in Information Systems research. While advances in information technology have made possible the generation, collection, storage and processing of data, concerns over security of what is collected and the potential personal privacy violations resulting from their misuse have also skyrocketed. Therefore, understanding of pertinent issues in information security and privacy vis-à-vis technical, theoretical, managerial and regulatory aspects of generation, collection, storage, processing and ultimately use of information are becoming increasingly important to researchers and industry practitioners alike.

Broadly speaking this minitrack is intended to provide a forum for IS researchers to study these issues from a technological, organizational, and individual perspective. The research issues surrounding the concerns over the information security and privacy can be classified as discussion of the technological factors; business processes that collect, massage and mine data; organizational impact of the information gathered; the effects that the use of this gathered knowledge will have on individuals; governmental impact and intervention; global, transnational and lastly, ethical and morale issues and concerns. The inter-relations among these factors, together with the complex number of issues for and against privacy, make this topic a very important, yet neglected area of research.

High quality submissions to this mini-track will be further considered for possible publication in the International Journal of Information Security and Privacy (IJISP)

Further information about IJISP can be found at: http://baeadm.uncg.edu/IJISP/
