Accenture hosted their second College of Business Case Competition this year. The 2008 competition was composed of six teams that included 21 College of Business students. These six teams were selected by their department of management professors, Troy Mumford, assistant professor and Bill Shuster, instructor, to represent their respective section of MGT 320 based on their performance on a case analysis earlier this semester. During the final round, teams were assigned a case and given two hours to prepare their recommendations for how management should address a situation involving conflict, miscommunication, and unsatisfactory team dynamics.
An Accenture employee was assigned to each team to assist and mentor the teams as they prepared for their ten minute presentation to a panel of three Accenture senior managers. The Accenture participants included Alex Olsen, Adam Anderson, Margaret Tedlie, Beth Munson, Cicely Ferguson, Areion Azimi and Colorado State University alumni Brian Dean Smith’95, Chad Stewart ‘08, Jerick Wilson ‘08, and Mark Noonan ‘97. Based on their evaluation of the six presentations, the Accenture employees selected the following team as the winners of the 2008 Accenture Case Competition: Kyra Bonavida, Sean Sweeney, Brandon Tucker and Jessica Walerius. The second place team consisted of Maggie Stashak, Stephanie Van Uffelen and Andrew Bormann.
Travis Maynard, assistant professor, Troy Mumford, and Bill Shuster, the faculty who coordinated this activity, would like to thank all the students who participated in this year's competition as well as the Accenture employees who helped the teams perform so well. In particular, Brian Smith, a College of Business graduate, deserves a great deal of credit for making this year's competition such a success.
