Centers play a vital role in
accomplishing the land grant mission of Colorado State University. As a
conduit for the exchange of ideas in specialized areas, each center in
the College of Business focuses on issues that play a dominant role in
the global enterprise. Centers bring together faculty experts from
across functional areas to create and deliver knowledge on issues core
to its mission. Currently, the Centers in the College of Business focus
on the following:
Center for Business Ethics and Social
Issues*
The guiding principles for the College of Business are built upon a
strong ethics foundation. The College was among the first in the nation
to implement ethics as a core value in developing our first center of
excellence. The Center for Business Ethics and Social Issues,
directed by Kathleen Kelly, provides resources for
businesses, academics and students of business ethics as well as an
online course in Business Ethics. The Center’s website
provides an opportunity to develop partnerships among all entities to
promote sharing of best practices associated with business ethics and
organizational citizenship.
Center for Entrepreneurship
The mission of the Center for Entrepreneurship is to develop world-class
entrepreneurs who, through entrepreneurial activity, will positively
impact our community, our state, our country, and our world. Recent
research shows that a quality entrepreneurship education increases both
the number of and success of entrepreneurial ventures thereby enhancing
economic vitality and job creation. The Center also works with
entrepreneurs, other colleges at CSU, the Office of Economic Technology
and Transfer, and the Center for Global Social Sustainable Enterprise to
assist in bringing innovative products to the market, both locally and
globally. The Center is involved in several student networking
opportunities including the Entrepreneurship Rotating Dinner, the Great
Entrepreneurship Speaker Series, The Entrepreneur-in-Residence, and
participation in the National Entrepreneurship Week. In April of each
year, the Center is host to one of the top undergraduate business plan
competitions (Venture Adventure) in the nation. The Center for
Entrepreneurship is also involved in the 3-course entrepreneurship
certificate which concludes with the development of a business plan.
Center for the Study of Global Business
The mission of the Center for the Study of Global Business (CSGB) is to broaden understanding of
increasingly-globalized business practices and the implications of those practices for College of
Business faculty and students, as well as other academics, practitioners, and society-at-large.
Everitt Real Estate Center
The Center for Real Estate promotes research into various aspects of the
real estate finance and the investments discipline, sponsors curricular
and extra-curricular programs for students in the finance and real
estate concentrations, and supports outreach programs for industry
practitioners. The interim director of the Center is Eric
Holsapple and Center is administered by Ron Surace and Anne Spry.
Institute of Transportation Management
The mission of the Institute of Transportation Management is to provide
management education and research for public and private sector
organizations involved with transportation and related operations.
Currently ITM houses the Tribal Technical Assistance Program for the
four state region and is the primary contributor for the conduct of
seatbelt studies for the State of Colorado. In addition to providing
research services for various public and private sector organizations,
ITM conducts training and educational programs in transportation
management. G. James Francis serves as the Director if ITM and Ron Hall
is the Director of the Tribal Technical Assistance Program.
