JEROME C. EPPLER

Jerome C. Eppler has spent his entire career in the
securities industry. From 1953 to 1961, he was a general partner of
Cyrus J. Lawrence & Sons, New York (member New York Stock Exchange),
from which he left to form his own firm, Eppler & Company. Since 1961,
Eppler & Company has engaged in private financial advisory and private
investment banking activities. From 1983 to 1986 he was a limited
partner of Alex Brown & Sons, at which time the firm became publicly
owned.
From 1967 to 1978, Mr. Eppler served as Chairman and Chief Executive
Officer of Insurance Securities, Inc. (ISI) where he co-founded ISI’s
insurance company subsidiaries – Life Insurance Company of California,
Windsor Life Insurance Co. (London) and World Wide Life Assurance Co.
(London). During this time, Insurance Securities, Inc., through another
subsidiary, managed funds having total assets in excess of $1.5 billion.
ISI and its subsidiaries were sold to E.F. Hutton, Inc. in 1978. Life
Insurance Company of California created the product of Universal Life
Insurance.
Mr. Eppler has served as director and has otherwise been directly
involved in a number of companies. Over the years, Mr. Eppler co-founded
many companies and has actively participated in a wide variety of
financial activities.
Mr. Eppler remains active in various businesses and related activities.
He was an early member of The New York Society of Security Analysis
(1954), as co-founder of The Industrial Advisory Committee at the
University of California (San Diego), a trustee-emeritus of The Scripps
Clinic & Research Foundation (LaJolla, California), a co-founder of The
Wharton Business School Club of New York, and has served on the Board
and Finance Committee of the Metropolitan Opera Association (New York
City) and a Trustee of Drew University (Morristown, N.J.).
Mr. Eppler is a graduate of Texas A&M University and a graduate of the
Wharton Graduate School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
