Jan Horsfall graduated from Colorado State
University in 1982 and has maintained close ties to the University and
the College of Business for many years.
Mr. Horsfall started out as an entry level sales representative with The
Valvoline Company in 1982 before advancing through the company. He later
ran two sales divisions, a sports marketing division, and several brands
before he took over Valvoline's consumer marketing. As Vice President of
Consumer Brand Strategy at Valvoline, Horsfall lead forays into Hispanic
marketing, youth marketing, direct marketing, retail category management
initiatives and eventually Valvoline's Internet strategy.
Horsfall later became Senior Vice President of Marketing for Lycos,
Inc., one of the first of the Internet search engines. Lycos was later
sold to the Spanish communications company, Terra Networks, S.A. for
$12.5 billion.
In 1999 Mr. Horsfall founded Gemini Voice Solutions, Inc. (GVS), a
NYC-based broadband voice company which raised over $52 million and had
more than 13.5 million users within 18 months of inception.
In 2001, Horsfall returned to Colorado and launched White Summit
Strategies, Inc., a Colorado Springs-based consulting and venture
capital firm that focused primarily on emerging Wi-Fi and Web
technologies.
Today he serves as President and Chief Executive Officer of Gelazzi,
Inc., a new gelato restaurant concept that launched its first location
in Denver in late 2004. Gelazzi launched a second location in Fort
Collins in the summer of 2006. He also serves as the senior advisor for
Format Dynamics, a Denver-based company which exploits new technologies
in the area of reformatting the user's complete web experience.
In addition to his participation with the Global Leadership Council at
Colorado State, Jan also serves on the Alumni Association Board and the
Entrepreneurship Center Board.
He resides in Colorado Springs with his wife Susan, and five children. |
