Department of Management Internship Final Report |
|
The content of this
report will determine most of your grade. Allow yourself enough time to
thoroughly complete this report according to the following instructions.
Reports
are to be submitted in hardcopy—NOT online.
Reports
should be double-spaced, use 12 pt Times New Roman font,
with 1-inch margins, and use heading throughout the paper.
Staple
the report pages in the upper left corner or bind them in a professional
manner.
Content
and organization are important. Spelling
and grammar errors will detract from the overall quality and will adversely
affect your final grade.
Reports
are DUE at the end of the last week the semester in which you are registered. The due date for Summer
is the end of the second week in August.
The outline is subject to change—download the most current
version before beginning your report.
Submit
the completed report (in hardcopy) to the Internship Coordinator, 216 Rockwell.

description of organization you worked for (size, business, where your
department fit in organization, etc.)
B. Summary of
your internship position, duties, responsibilities
C. Follow all of
the guidelines for report writing learned in BG200 (headings, paragraphs, page
numbering, etc.)
This
should be a summary of how your time was spent during the internship and what
you accomplished. If your internship was project-based, summarize the purpose
and outcome of the project, as well as key steps. If your internship was
job-based, summarize what you contributed to the day-to-day operation of the
organization.
A. Restate your
objectives from the Internship Agreement form. Discuss any modifications made
as you went through your internship.
B. Describe
specific efforts you made to work on each objective.
C. Describe how
you monitored your own progress, what help you sought, what you achieved,
obstacles you faced and how you dealt with them.
D. Describe how
you will continue to work on your objectives.
Note: Your discussion here should be as specific as possible, and should refer to the objectives stated in the agreement form, describing what you actually did, as you worked to improve your management knowledge and skills.
A. List three
management concepts that you learned about in class or from your class
assignments. If possible, identify the text, reading, or class where you were
exposed to the concepts.
B. Describe how you
have used each concept to make “sense” of your internship experience. You may
describe one of the following:
How
the concept was applied at your internship organization; whether you believe it
was applied effectively or how it could be applied more effectively.
Why
you don’t feel the concept was applied at your organization. Do you agree, or
based on your academic studies, do you believe it should be implemented?
Support your opinion.
Why
you believe the concept was not covered adequately in class and how, based on
your experience, it could be taught more effectively to prepare students for
the “real world.”
Samples of work, project reports, and any
additional documentation of your experience.
