The following list provides a selection of some of the awards, honors and interesting activities of the Management Department Faculty.

 
  • Department of Management is #1 research producing department in the College of Business for 2006-2007 in the total number of articles and in the number appearing in high quality and premiere publications (2006 Research Bulletin).

  • Mr. Jeff Boulter was elected Chairman of the Larimer County Planning Commission.

  • Dr. Thomas Dean, formerly an associate professor in Strategy and Entrepreneurship at the Leeds School of Business at the University of Colorado in Boulder, is joining the department in January 2008 as an Associate Professor. He will be lending his expertise to the GSSE program, entrepreneurship and strategy.

  • Mr. Burt Deines is co-sponsor with Ms. Sue Schell who founded a student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and acts as the faculty sponsor to the club.

  • Dr. Lisa Ellram has been named as the incoming Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Supply Chain Management.

  • Dr. Michael Gross received the 2007 Reviewer Award from Negotiation and Conflict Management Research. Dr. Gross also received the 2007 Outstanding Service Award from the International Association for Conflict Management as Editor of SIGNAL, the association’s official newsletter.

  • Dr. Jackie Hartman was awarded recognition as an Honors Professor.

  • Dr. Jackie Hartman was awarded the Gladys Eddy Award for the Enhancement of the Undergraduate Experience.

  • Dr. Raymond Hogler has been named a Fulbright Distinguished Chair. He taught labor law at the University of Tuscia in Italy in the Spring of 2007.

  • Dr. Travis Maynard received a 2007 Certificate of Outstanding Achievement in Teaching from Accenture.

  • Dr. Jim McCambridge assigned his Designing Organizations for Innovation and Change class to participate in a service learning project to work with a nonprofit organization to help develop a specific program. One of the groups was matched with Volunteers of America to create the framework for the Legacy Project, an initiative to capture the memories and stories of local seniors. Other groups were matched with organizations that include the American Cancer Society, Respite Care and Neighbor to Neighbor.   • Mr. Henry Nowak, JD, formerly the Director of Technology Transfer at the Utah State University, has been named as the new Director of the Entrepreneurship Center.

  • Dr. Ken Petersen received the COB Outstanding Service Award for 2007.

  • Dr. Ken Petersen was appointed “Visiting Senior Fellow” at the Manchester Business School.

  • Ms. Sue Schell founded a student chapter of the Society for Human Resource Management and acts as the faculty sponsor to the club with Mr. Burt Deines as co-sponsor.

  • Mr. Bill Shuster received the COB Green and Gold Award for 2007.

  • Mr. Bill Shuster was awarded recognition as an Honors Professor.

  • Mr. Bill Shuster led an integrated Economic Development Project for Washington County Colorado.

  • Mr. Bill Shuster received Accenture’s Professor Excellence Award.

  • Mr. Paul Vanderspek received his certification from CPIM – Certified in production and inventory management and CSCP – Certified supply chain professional.

  • APICS northern Colorado, in conjunction with our student chapter and Mr. Paul Vanderspek, has trained and certified 27 students in the CSCA certification – certified supply chain analyst. Even though the training and exam is conducted thru APICS, the actual certifying organization is the Supply Chain Education Alliance (ISCEA).

  • Early this year, Mr. Paul Vanderspek, took a team of students to the Operations Stimulus case competition put on by the Denver Transportation Alliance. He hopes to take 1 or 2 teams to the competition in January 2008.

  • Dr. George Zsidisin received the Deutsche Post World Net ProLog Award (2006), for research on Business Continuity Planning, 5,000 € (only one awarded).

  • Dr. George Zsidisin was awarded the E. Grosvenor Plowman Best Paper Award at the Supply Chain Management Educator’s Conference, San Antonio, TX, October 15, 2006. Voss, M. Douglas, George A. Zsidisin and Matthew Scholsser, Shipper-carrier relationships and their effect on carrier performance.
