Redefining Investment Strategy Education (RISE):

R.I.S.E. is the first forum of its kind to bring leading students, faculty and investment professionals together in an interactive learning environment to discuss a range of pertinent issues facing investment professionals. Colorado State University was one of 197 universities worldwide to attend this conference last year. R.I.S.E. is comprised of keynote presentations by nationally renowned industry professionals; specialized breakout sessions focusing on a range of investment, career strategies and academic program development related issues; security analysis and portfolio management workshops, and an optional portfolio competition.

The highlight of the R.I.S.E. conference is listening to the experiences and insight by the prestigious keynote speakers. These nationally renowned industry leaders will discuss the economy, bond market, Federal Reserve Board perspective, stock market, corporate governance and real estate. There are 21 keynote speakers for R.I.S.E 2007. The list of speakers encompasses Ralph Alvarez, President and CEO of McDonald’s Corporation; Paul S. Atkins, Commissioner of the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission; L’Ubomir Jahnatek, CSc, Minister of the Economy for the Slovak Republic; Pat Dorsey, Director of Stock Analysis, Morningstar.com; Dr. Gary H. Stern, President & CEO of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis; and Dr. Jan Hatzius, Chief U.S. Economist of Goldman Sachs.

During the break out sessions a national group of investment professionals will share their insights on a variety of topics such as Alternative Investments, Ethics, Fixed Income, Hedge Funds, International Markets, Portfolio Management Perspectives, and Risk Management. For the workshops portfolio managers and security analysts will discuss how they approach evaluating potential securities and constructing portfolios. These workshops focus on skill enhancement.

The Summit Fund hopes to send ten students to R.I.S.E. 2007. Many students that attended this conference last year claimed it to be one the greatest learning experiences they had during their time at Colorado State University. Last year the Summit Fund placed second in the portfolio challenge during R.I.S.E. and has a goal of earning the first position this year.
