We welcome your application to the Master of Accountancy program in the College of Business at Colorado State University. Your admission to the Master of Accountancy program is subject to the approval of the Chair of the Department of Accounting, in consultation with the Director of Graduate Studies, as well as meeting admissions criteria.

Minimum criteria for admission into the Master of Accountancy are

  • GMAT/GRE score of 550 or higher,
  • Undergraduate cumulative grade point average (any field) of 3.0,
  • Acceptable letters of reference, and
  • Undergraduate prerequisite coursework amounting to 33 semester hours — primarily in accounting but including economics, statistics, and finance.

Program applicants who have not completed all of the undergraduate prerequisites can usually be admitted to the program and complete the missing requirements concurrently with graduate courses.

While we encourage our students to meet the minimum criteria, failure to meet one may be offset by strengths in other areas, as determined by the Chair and Director. Waiver of the GMAT/GRE is at the discretion of the Director of Graduate Studies. A waiver normally requires either an earned graduate degree in another field, or six years of relevant work experience with strong letters of reference. Successful passing of all four parts of the Uniform CPA Exam is also a consideration for a waiver to the GMAT or GRE.

Once admitted, you must remain continuously registered until graduation. For further information regarding the Master of Accountancy, contact program director Dr. Donald Samelson at samelson@lamar.colostate.edu.
