Management Professor Susan Golicic Wins Award for Supply Chain Paper

06/11/2009

Susan Golicic, member of the college's Management department, and co-researcher, Daniel Flint, were recognized by the Society for Marketing Advances (SMA), a premier marketing association. Their paper “Searching for an Edge through Sustainability: A Qualitative Study in the New Zealand Wine Industry” was awarded the Louis Stern and Adel El Ansary Best Marketing Channels Manuscript Award and will be presented at the 2009 SMA Conference. The annual event brings together marketing educators from throughout the United States and abroad and will take place in New Orleans in early November.

Dr. Golicic and Dr. Flint's paper will be presented as part of the Supply Chain Management track as well as part of a one day Supply Chain Management and Industrial Distribution symposium held during the conference.  An extended abstract will be published in the conference proceedings.  In addition, the paper will be reviewed by the International Journal of Physical Distribution and Logistics Management as part of a special issue released each year in coordination with the symposium. The publication provides business practitioners, consultants and academics with leading edge information and discussions of current developments in the field. It also facilitates the interchange of information among business planners and researchers on a worldwide basis.

Susan is currently continuing her research on wine supply chains as a visiting scholar at the University of Western Australia for the summer. She is examining the wine industries of Perth and the Margaret River regions and intends to add data and findings from these areas to the paper prior to its review.
