To make a difference, to have your voice heard, to create an impact – students in the Master of Management Practice in the College of Business want to take their undergraduate degrees to the next level. If you want to quickly move into positions of management in your chosen field, the Master of Management Practice can help you accomplish your goal.
The skill sets required for technical and scientific workers have changed dramatically during the last 10 years. Managing people and multiple projects within virtual teams, understanding complicated buyer/supplier relationships, and the impact of globalization requires organizations to hire employees who can move into a management level position with little or no training. The Master of Management Practice’s highly specialized curriculum sets you apart and gives you the training you need to succeed in management.
The goal of the Master of Management Practice is to provide you, regardless or your discipline, with specialized management and organizational skills so you can participate effectively in the management and growth of an organization.
Who are Our Students?
The Master of Management Practice is designed for students who are not business majors. Most of our students have just graduated and want to dedicate themselves to a full-time, one-year program that will prepare them to move quickly into management. We have a strong representation from restaurant/resort management majors, as well as equine sciences and technical journalism. In 2008, the MMP’s first year, students from 23 different disciplines applied to our program.
We also welcome students who need to structure the Master of Management Practice to fit their unique situations. You can take up to five years to finish the program, working with your adviser to devise a schedule that will fit your life.
