The Everitt Real Estate Center is hosting its first quarter event focusing on building green at the Lincoln Center.

Commencing the event, Brian Dunbar, Colorado State’s executive director of the Institute for the Built Environment, will clarify the definition of green buildings. He will discuss what green building practices use to be, what they are today and what it means to build green for the future. The Institute fosters stewardship and sustainability through research-based, interdisciplinary educational forums within the Department of Construction Management.

Breakout session content for those in commercial construction will include case studies, LEED certification and green building appraisal. The session focusing on residential construction will encompass renovating and consulting green as well a presentation by Jammie Sabin from Aspen Homes, the top green development company in Colorado.

The keynote presenter, Walter Rakowich, president and COO of ProLogis, will address corporate sustainability. ProLogis is committed to becoming the global leader in sustainable warehouse design and construction. They have responded proactively to the emerging trends regulators are putting in place toward tougher standards for real estate development projects, and are requiring builders to account for carbon emissions and other environmental impacts in a more holistic manner.
