FORT COLLINS - Rick Snow, former vice president, general counsel
and secretary of business software giant J.D. Edwards & Co., will
serve as Executive-in-Residence for the College of Business at
Colorado State University for the Spring 2006 semester.
His duties will include lecturing in select undergraduate and
graduate courses, assisting the career counseling program, helping
faculty connect with industry representatives, mentoring students
and advising the dean and key college leaders on strategic planning.
Snow has 33 years experience as a corporate legal executive in the
high-technology industry. He started the legal department at J.D.
Edwards in 1990 and grew it to 45 people before retiring in 2004.
"Rick has a wealth of knowledge about the corporate world, so he
will be a tremendous asset for our students and faculty," said Ajay
Menon, dean of the College of Business. "We are grateful to him for
sharing his insights and for his devotion to the college and the
university."
In addition to his advisory role within the college, Snow will teach
business law and ethics in the college's evening MBA and
distance-learning programs. He currently serves as a member of the
Global Leadership Council, the dean's advisory board for College of
Business.
"I always believed education got me where I am and helped me to be
successful, so I have a strong desire to give something back," Snow
said. "I can give students some idea of what the real world is like
out there and what they can expect."
The Executive-in-Residence Program is intended to enhance the
academic excellence of the College of Business with the practical
experience of senior business executives. The program supplements
the educational experience of business students by matching
qualified business leaders at different levels to volunteer
opportunities within the college.
Snow obtained his bachelor's degree from the University of
California at Berkeley and his law degree from California Western
School of Law.
At J.D. Edwards, he helped negotiate the PeopleSoft merger before
retiring in 2004. Prior to joining J.D. Edwards, he served as
corporate counsel for Hathaway Corp. from 1986 to 1990; vice
president, general counsel and a board member of Global-Ultimaac
Systems from 1983 to 1986; senior counsel for Storage Technology
Corp. from 1978 to 1983; corporate counsel for Tymshare from 1973 to
1978; and contracts and real estate manager for Memorex from 1971 to
1973.
