L.
Daniel Jorndt, retired chairman and chief executive officer of Walgreen
Co., and current Kellogg Company board member, will be at Colorado State
University on Monday, October 29, 2007 to deliver the initial lecture of
the 2007-2008 College of Business Dean’s Speaker Series. He will speak
on the topic of leadership and board member responsibilities.
The presentation will be held at the Lory Student Center West Ballroom
from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m.
Walgreens is one of the good-to-great companies discussed by Jim Collins
in his book Good to Great, and we are pleased to have secured Dan Jorndt
to speak to the College of Business community. Jorndt was named
president and COO in 1990 and chairman and CEO of Walgreens in January
1998 upon the retirement of Charles R. (Cork) Walgreen III. In January
1999, Jorndt retained the CEO title while David W. Bernauer assumed the
position of president and chief operating officer. Jorndt succeeded Cork
Walgreen as chairman of the board in July 1999, when Walgreen became
chairman emeritus. |
