The first College of Business Global Business Day was held on Tuesday, March 2 in Rockwell Hall. This event highlighted three speakers who presented their perspectives on the global economy and the importance of understanding global markets and how businesses work together as the interdependency of the world market grows.

Pierre Cousin, corporate vice president of Research Engineering & Development.
Scott Myatt, president of Fort Collins based TMA Consulting;
George Moore, principal at DSSI Consulting;

Cousin presented on “Doing Business in a Multi-Cultural Environment.” As the corporate vice president of Research Engineering & Development, his primary role is to lead the engineering activity worldwide. Prior to this position, Cousin was the vice president and general manager of Online Solutions Business Unit. He also served as the vice president, assistant to the chairman and held the position of vice president for the Client-Server Business Group, where he was responsible for the design, development, manufacturing, marketing and support of the StorageTek open systems products. Cousin joined StorageTek in 1997 as general manager, Southern Region, EAME and President of StorageTek France. He was instrumental in building a new management team in the Southern Europe region, which has directly contributed to StorageTek's continued success in Europe, Africa and the Middle East.

Myatt presented “Global Education from the Thunderbird Perspective.” He is a recent graduate of Thunderbird, The American Graduate School of International Management. Prior to receiving his Master of International Management degree from Thunderbird, he received a MBA from Colorado State University. Myatt has been involved with businesses in Japan for 15 years, having lived there for more than three years. Fluent in Japanese, Myatt worked for Advanced Energy Industries, Inc. for five years in various roles dealing with business in Japan.

Moore presented, “Perspectives on China,” from his experience as a principal at DSSI Consulting, a firm that advises international governments and multinational companies on strategy, marketing, security, finance, telecommunications, internet technology and IT infrastructure development. Prior to DSSI, he was a senior principal at Accenture where he worked with multinational companies on projects related to strategy and business planning. Moore has held corporate executive positions in the technology, telecomm, finance, marketing, logistics and insurance industries.
