FORT COLLINS – U.S. News and World Report
magazine has ranked Colorado State University’s College of Business
among the best programs in the nation. The college was ranked 87th,
moving up 10 positions since its last ranking of 97th in 2002.
“I am pleased that our world-class faculty, and their collective work to
elevate the College of Business’ national stature through high-quality
research and innovative educational programs, is being recognized,” said
Ajay Menon, dean of Colorado State University’s College of Business.
“The more than 10-point rise in our national ranking this year is
indicative of our rigorous academic programs, nationally-known faculty
and top-quality students.”
Other universities closely ranked with Colorado State include Clemson
University, Lehigh University, Marquette University, Ohio University,
Oklahoma State University, Rutgers and Temple University.
The U.S. News and World Report Best Undergraduate Business Programs
rankings include both public and private national business programs.
U.S. News surveyed deans and senior faculty at undergraduate business
programs accredited by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of
Business.
Colorado State’s College of Business was re-accredited in 2002 by the
AACSB – the accreditation represents the highest standard of achievement
for business schools worldwide. Out of the 1,400 four-year business
programs nationwide, only 480 are accredited by the AACSB. Colorado
State ranks in the top 20 percent of the 480 accredited four-year
business programs in the world – 65 of the accredited intuitions are
foreign based.
Along with the U.S. News national ranking, Colorado State’s College of
Business added many accomplishments this year. Other honors include: |

Announcement of a $1.5 million gift from two
prominent Northern Colorado real estate developers to establish an
endowed chair in the College of Business' real estate program. The
gift will bring a nationally-known expert to the university to
provide cutting-edge research, academic leadership and expertise to
work with national real estate companies while serving as the
director of the Center for Investment and Real Estate Finance at
Colorado State. Eric Holsapple and Don Marostica, Colorado State
alumni and owners of Loveland Commercial, LLC, donated the funds to
create the first endowed chair at the university's College of
Business - the Loveland Commercial Endowed Chair in Real Estate.

Co-sponsoring a national conference on business
ethics with the AACSB, University of Colorado and University of
Wyoming. Business educators from across the country attended the
conference, which was designed to improve and increase the teaching
of business ethics at colleges and universities.

Holding a comprehensive business ethics
symposium in Denver in conjunction with The University of Texas at
Austin McCombs School of Business.

The Department of Marketing was ranked in the
top 20 in the nation by a recent American Marketing Association
study in terms of research impact.

Professor Stan Slator was ranked as seventh in
the nation in the AMA study in the area of individual scholar
impact.

The college now houses the national office of
the Management Honorary Society, with Professor Jim Francis serving
as the national president.

The long standing success of the college’s
distance MBA program has often been the standard in helping other
Colleges of Business design and develops their distance learning
programs. Kiplinger magazine has named the MBA program as one of the
top “big name” programs in the country that offers the degree at a
distance. The magazine noted that Colorado State's distance MBA
program has a reputation for high standards and is accredited by the
AACSB, two essential criteria for participants to set themselves
apart when interviewing with personnel managers and executive
recruiters.

With about 2200 undergraduate students, the college
has grown 49 percent in the past seven years. With the popularity of the
program at Colorado State, the College of Business has one of the
highest admission standards at the university and among other business
programs in the state.
Colorado State’s College of Business includes the departments of
Accounting, Computer Information Systems, Finance and Real Estate,
Management and Marketing as well as housing the Centers for
Entrepreneurship, Business Ethics and Social Policy, Education and
Research in E-Business, Investment and Real Estate Finance, Institute of
Transportation Management and Corporate Financial Reporting. |
