Our entering freshmen have one of the highest average high school GPAs on campus. Our criteria for acceptance into the College of Business are rigorous, and are based on additional entrance requirements that go beyond basic admission to Colorado State University. Admission Requirements for New Freshmen
To be considered for admission to the College of Business, you should have a 3.1 or higher cumulative GPA and an SAT score of 1200 (math and reading portions only) or ACT score of 27. Colorado State University and the College of Business also employ a holistic review of applications to determine admittance to the University and the College. A holistic review goes beyond GPA and standardized test scores. Your essay and letters of recommendation help us get a full picture of you. Additional factors include:
- Academic rigor in high school courses completed
- Trends in grades
- Community service and leadership, work experience
- Awards and recognitions
- Ability to contribute to a diverse campus community
- Unique and/or compelling circumstances

Undeclared-Business Interest
If you are not directly admitted to the College of Business, you’ll be offered admission as an Undeclared-Business Interest (UBI). You may re-apply to the College of Business once you have completed the requirements below. While an Undeclared-Business Interest student, you’ll be advised by the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA) and are encouraged to investigate all business-related majors offered at Colorado State. Admission Requirements for Internal Transfers,
Including UBI
If you are already a student at Colorado State University and would like to transfer to the College of Business from another major, or would like to re-apply from an Undeclared-Business Interest, you may be admitted to the College of Business if you have:
- Completed MATH141, Calculus – Management Sciences, and ECON202, Principles of Microeconomics, with a grade of "B-" or better.
- Achieved a Colorado State cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a minimum of 15 graded credits.
If you have exceeded the maximum completed credit limit before applying to the College of Business, you must submit the Credit Limit Appeal Form. Credit limits are defined as 30 credits completed at Colorado State if you were a transfer student from another institution; and 45 credits completed at Colorado State if you entered as a new freshman.
Transfer Students from other Institutions
If you are a transfer student from another institution and would like to apply to the College of Business, you may be admitted if you have:
- Completed MATH141, Calculus-Management Sciences; and ECON202, Principles of Microeconomics; or their equivalent, with a grade of "B-" or better.
- Achieved a cumulative GPA of at least 3.0 on a minimum of 15 graded credits.
If you don’t meet these criteria, you will be admitted as an Undeclared-Business Interest. You’ll be advised by the Center for Advising and Student Achievement (CASA) and encouraged to investigate all business-related majors offered at Colorado State University. You may re-apply to the College of Business once you have met the above requirements.
Appealing an Admission Decision
If you are appealing for admission to the College to Business because you do not meet the admission criteria, please submit the Appeal for Admission Form. Under extreme extenuating circumstances, the College of Business may admit a student who does not meet the requirements.
