Dear Students, Parents, and Alumni,
Accounting has been called the language of business, providing relevant information to managers, investors and regulatory agencies. Accounting professionals can be involved as preparers, auditors and users of this information. The program at Colorado State University serves all these avenues. Consistent with the entire College of Business, our goal in the Department of Accounting is to be the best accounting program in the Rocky Mountain region.
The accounting undergraduate curriculum, a concentration within the Bachelor of Business Administration, is designed to meet all the requirements to sit for the Uniform CPA Examination in Colorado. Our students do extremely well on the uniform CPA Examination, ranking first in Colorado and 11th in the nation (in 2006, the most recent figures available). Most states now require 150 hours of education to become a Certified Public Accountant. We offer a Master of Accountancy (MAcc) to help you achieve that educational requirement in order to take your CPA certification out of state.
Our faculty members have established reputations in teaching and research, and are dedicated to providing the best possible education and training to our students. In partnership with industry, government and public accounting firms, we provide education and employment opportunities to help you succeed.
If you are interested in an undergraduate or graduate degree in accounting, be sure to contact us with any questions.
Best Regards,
Barry Lewis
Chair, Department of Accounting
