The accounting profession is one of the fastest growing in the nation and, even in times of economic trouble, continues to have a strong outlook for the future. According to the Bureau for Labor Statistics, the employment of accountants and auditors is expected to grow by 18 percent between 2006 and 2016, faster than the average for all occupations.
Driving this growth are changing financial laws and regulations, as well as greater scrutiny of company finances in the wake of corporate scandals and continuing turmoil in the banking industry.
